gMed, a Modernizing Medicine company, is one such company, helping to improve the quality of human life through innovation in healthcare by elevating the practice of medicine with streamlined office workflow. Built for single-specialty practices and Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs), gMed provides specialty-specific solutions that are completely integrated, easily implemented and highly intuitive. As gMed President Joe Rubinsztain, MD, points out, “gMed provides the gastroenterology industry with a fully integrated platform consisting of an electronic health record (EHR) system, Endoscopy Report Writer, practice management system, patient portal, data analytics and revenue cycle management services.” The 18 year old company’s gGastro EHR system has earned Black Book Rankings’ award for Top Ambulatory EHR for gastroenterology for five consecutive years, and combined with gPM, gMed’s integrated practice management system, offers a complete gastro-specific suite.
Based in Weston, FL, gMed was established to create a more timely and technological alternative to the paper medical chart. Catering to gastroenterologists and ASCs, gMed addresses the needs of gastroenterology organizations through its single platform software, gGastro Suite, which integrates a number of solutions, such as practice management, patient engagement solutions, business intelligence and analytics into a single package. gMed stands apart from similar solutions as, Dr. Rubinsztain explains, “everything is handled in the same system on a single database. Integrated solutions that are capable of processing and assembling information in real-time to help organizations make better decisions.”
gAdvisor is designed to take practices step by step in the process of compliance
gMed is currently looking to create new strategies and products that help providers improve the quality of patient engagement in addition to their practices’ daily procedures. One example of this is gMed’s new reporting methodologies. Dr. Rubinsztain explains, “many practices were not effectively following a patient’s progress and need for check-ins, so we implemented new reporting methodologies to assist physicians with staying up to date.” gMed continues to listen to feedback from providers so that their product improves the quality of patient engagement, and ultimately, enhances patient outcomes.
gMed’s products allow physicians to solely focus on their patient’s needs accurately and efficiently. “We witnessed that doctors were appropriately processing and reporting patient’s information in the general registry,” says Dr. Rubinsztain. “Therefore, we started creating new reports, services, and bench marking tools that allow doctors to understand what their best practices look like.” Through this process, the company helped many physicians fine tune the way they perform each task in order to drive better quality service and stay within the best practice guidelines. In mid-2015, gMed was acquired by Modernizing Medicine, the creator of the cloud-based, specialty-specific Electronic Medical Assistant® (EMA™) platform, in an effort to enhance the company’s mission to transform how healthcare information is created, consumed and utilized in order to increase efficiency and improve outcomes. This acquisition brought the best of both worlds together. gMed’s successful history of offering a quality gastroenterology-specific suite of services offered the perfect companion for Modernizing Medicine’s vision and execution of a cloud, mobile and data-driven health IT company.
Looking ahead, gMed aims to continue to improve health outcomes by providing gastroenterologists with innovative technological solutions.
